Ep. 237 The New World Order and Dehumanization on the Left and Right
Bob critiques the economic views of Yuval Harari, who predicts “useless people” because of technological advances. Bob then showcases similar thinking from right-wingers. He ends by addressing a common critique of the Christian God.

Sorry, the recent rollout of experimental poisons supports Harari’s claim. Many people are being physically and mentally weakened, possibly permanently. They are becoming more useless versus technology.
“[The worth of] a human being – it’s not whether they have the right response to ‘what should the marginal income tax rate be'”
Kinda is – the right response is “zero – thou shalt not steal” – and an incorrect answer to that means the person deserves to die, basically. (Every act of coercion is ultimately backed by deadly force.)
“Anything that happens, [God] allowed to happen, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he caused it”
Well, in stories like Noah’s Ark, he literally did cause innocent kids to suffer and die horrifically, no? He broke his own “thou shalt not murder” law.
Also, regarding intervening, he broke his rule on that too, eg. the Good Samaritan parable … God commands us to help other, yet he doesn’t help us… at all. I mean, you can have free will, and still intervene. Like, after a killer pulls the trigger, or the blade of his knife punctures an innocent victim, God can immediately pause things and banish the criminal to Hell, and let the victim and his family continue living in their merry way. That way everyone still has the freedom to choose to do evil, the freedom to believe whatever they want, AND innocent people don’t have to suffer.
This was good. But.. I’d like to hear something more relevant and urgent during these extraordinary times. Specifically :
1) ruble FX rate. Biden wanted to turn ruble into rubble. It’s now at prewar rates. Does strong ruble mean Russia has won this battle? Or meaningless because unconvertible?
2) can sanctions work?
3) Russia has all the raw materials, China has all the manufacturing, India the technology, the West all the money. Is the West doomed?
There are a lot of libertarian / populist / alternative political and military analysts. But they tend to be not good on economics. Please weigh in!
Bob, I think this episode definitively needs some getting deeper inside. Are you aware of https://openai.com/?
Nobody can really predict the future, but your 16 years old boy example is no different than computer making artistic images as you can see on this site.
We all know AI is a super extension of human intellect, that the computer doesn’t know anything, but only able to apply human models extremely fast, still there could easily be a model for the restaurant waiters as well.
Sure, this will create many new jobs because humans will get free from jobs like this, and many will work on creating new computer models for many other fields, and yes, it is true that every time the pessimists were wrong, but I think we need to get a bit deeper into this.
If we had a free society, this would be solved by itself, but in a non free society we live in, we have perfectly well laid conditions for Schwab’s wet dreams.
In response to Dennis; humans can only judge other individuals. God judges entire nations and deals summary judgement.
What is happening today is prophecied and the result of us, Israel (not the nation-state) collectively abandoning his law. Fornication is the unforgiveable sin.
