Ep. 207 “They Said What?!” John Lennon Edition
Bob unveils a new recurring series, in which he gives the context of infamous quotations. In this episode, he covers two allegedly shocking quotes from John Lennon, John Maynard Keynes’ “in the long run we’re all dead,” Trump on Nazis being very fine people, Dan Quayle misspelling potato, Obama’s “you didn’t build that,” and Bohm-Bawerk on Karl Marx.

Great episode! On John Lennon, I agree with your take on “Revolution” – great song we should agree with against violent Marxism / Maoism. The song that makes him look like a naive Marxist is “Imagine”.
.
Also his name sounds just like the first leader of the USSR 😀
Great! Ideas for next ones please : “Read my lips, no new taxes” and “I invented the Internet”. Unless that’s what they actually meant at the time 🙂
Bob,
Here’s a clip of John Lennon doing damage control after the bigger than Jesus quote.

Hi Dr. Murphy,
What do you make of Charles Evans Hughes and the whole “we are under a Constitution, and the Constitution is what the judges say it is” remark?
I say yikes, FYI.
Very enjoyable! Thanks!
Please do one on “Let them eat cake”. I’ve heard that is grossly misinterpreted.
The Beatles Bandwagon rolls on.
